The Integrated Manufacturing Solutions Division manages ROi's Custom Procedure Tray (CPT) manufacturing operation, our Regard™ private label product line, repackaging of pharmaceuticals to single-unit dose and print services. Integrated Manufacturing Solutions works with end users to identify products and services that can be self-manufactured by ROi to drive incremental value.

Custom Pack Solutions

ROi operates the largest provider-owned, FDA-registered Custom Procedure Tray (CPT) manufacturing facility in the United States. Our Custom Pack Solutions (CPS) program - housed in a specially designed 6,000-square-foot facility in Springfield, Missouri - designs and assembles custom packs tailored to each provider's unique specifications. We utilize a transparent, activity-based pricing model to provide pricing clarity and transparency. By aligning incentives between the manufacturer and provider, the CPS program drives standardization, efficiency and cost control for end users.

Regard™ Products

In 2008, ROi launched the Regard™ brand to help providers secure quality products at an affordable price. Our team works directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to develop and produce Regard™ products under specifications of equal or higher quality than their name brand counterparts. ROi's clinical team validates these products with physicians and clinicians prior to launch to ensure quality and consistency.

Working directly with manufacturers - versus third-party intermediaries - helps ensure product quality and allows for direct product design input and supply channel control, resulting in products that better meet the patients' and clinicians' needs. Additionally, Regard™ products drive cost savings by aligning the sourcing strategy with other components of ROi's integrated supply chain model, such as the Consolidated Services Center (CSC) and Integrated Sourcing Solutions.

Pharmaceutical Repackaging

After a study by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) demonstrated that medical errors in the United States were the eighth leading cause of death, and adverse events cost approximately $37.6 billion each year with $17 billion of those costs associated with preventable errors, ROi took action. We worked to optimize the supply chain all the way to the patient's bedside with the development of a pharmaceutical safety program that involves centralized packaging to low unit of dose, dispensing and bar code scanning medications in single-dose form at the patient's bedside.

Launching this program involved establishing a repackaging operation at our Consolidated Services Center (CSC), as well as purchasing medication dispensing machines, bedside scanning and verification equipment. It also required training thousands of nursing and pharmacy co-workers and developing processes for ongoing monitoring and management. The result is a system that uses bar code scanning, automated medicine dispensing cabinets and overall better use of technology to help doctors, pharmacists and nurses share information. Additional benefits include pharmacists spending less time dispensing pills and more time on clinical activities such as reviewing medication orders.
